About our home
Belavista has been in our family since 1943, when it was purchased from the Vicentinho family during World War II; the name is still used for the location today. Since 2019, we have been dedicated to restoring and improving the space while also further developing it.

Much of the work is done by hand. Your host, Margarida, loves to restore antique furniture, which you can see throughout the houses and outdoors. She is also an enthusiastic chef, often firing up the wood oven on special occasions to create local delicacies for events, dinners, and lunches.

Margarida takes great pride in maintaining the garden, showcasing her green thumb. Her daughter, Sara, works remotely and joins the many digital nomads in events, parties and creates a community.

We collect rainwater during the winter months to water our garden in the summer. Currently, this system supports about 60% of our garden and fruit needs, but we plan to expand it. By the end of 2022, we aim for our garden, plants, and trees to be self-sufficient. Presently, we have orange, lemon, almond, and olive trees, along with various flowers and plants.

In the houses, all the warm water is solar heated. By the end of 2025, we also aim to produce around 70% of our electricity, becoming nearly self-sufficient by 2027. Furthermore, we recycle and upcycle nearly everything, from turning old sheets into curtains to bringing old tables and chairs back to life. We strive to give back to nature in our own way, and our guests help us achieve that.

At Belavista Retreat, we create, nourish, and gather a community of digital nomads, lovers of yoga, sports, health and wellness from around the world. As a family-run business, we offer traditional local accommodation, yoga facilities, a BBQ area with a kitchen, and a pool for our guests to enjoy. Belavista is a place to connect with like-minded individuals, recharge your batteries, and bask in the sun and peace of the Algarve. The stunning views of the sea and mountains make it even more special.
